#1 Fun date idea
This is a perfect date idea for when thinking of date ideas is getting stressful! The idea goes something like this but it is totally flexible for what you both want to do:
- Set a budget and find items from a charity/thrift shop that most remind you of each other.
This means that you can pick out items you think they would like and have fun hiding what you pick from them until you show them at the end! It’s also very low stakes if you choose a low budget of for example £10-20, and you might get some cool items like cargos, ties, books, and vases… all whilst giving to charity!
You could even do multiple rounds at different charity shops, such as: bags, books, clothes, and random items. Plus, it can become a Valentines day/Anniversary tradition!
Similarly (and you may have seen all over Tiktok), a modification of this idea is to play rock-paper-scissors to see which one of you can choose an item for dinner.
How it works is you both go to a supermarket of your choice with the intention of having 4 courses (starter, main, dessert, drinks). You then play rock-paper-scissors for each course, with the winner being able to select what they want for the course – if you win in the drinks round you might choose a bottle of pink lemonade for you both, for example.
This game is fun because it eliminates the stress of deciding what to have for dinner by turning it into a fun challenge… a perfect date idea!
#2 Research free days out
If you want to spend money on a date then there are endless ideas out there of exhibits/museums to spend the day at. There are also many free events all throughout the year that you can both get involved in, like village fairs, visiting parks, or trying art galleries.
- My boyfriend and I spent a day at the Tate Modern in London and it was an excellent, sophisticated date idea that was totally free!
#3 Beach day
If you’re fortunate enough to live near the sea or can get to one easily, this is another date idea seen all over Tiktok and Pinterest! Take a good look at your partner’s eyes and vice versa, and then try to find shells, pebbles, or rocks with the same colour as them… it’s really that simple! Don’t forget to take a picture holding the shell up to their eyes for an Instagram story idea!
Another beach day idea is to have a picnic by the sea with some of your favourite snacks… perhaps you chose the snacks using the method from date idea #1 on this list!
#4 Craft ideas
Especially if you’ve been with your partner for a long time it can be hard to think of new ideas for how to spend time together…
Last year I picked up trying arts & crafts, and I had the best time doing it alongside my boyfriend! You can start really simple using easily available craft kits for kids if you want a low-stakes date, such as painting by numbers or sewing kits!
You could also try baking and cooking if you haven’t already done that as a date idea… and you’ll be able to try whatever you make if you do the next idea on this list…
#5 Movie night with a twist.
Okay, choosing a movie to watch at the end of the day is annoying, especially when you both have different tastes in movies. This final date idea is to choose a movie to watch that has the same first letter as one of your names (you can alternate whose name to use each time you do this). For example, if one of your names begins with an A, try watching The Aristocats, or if its D try The Devil Wears Prada
